I wanted to write a song about you, But I cannot remember why I wanted to. I know, I know, I know X2 That it's no use. I closed my eyes and dreamed a dream, But I cannot decide, If I was meant to dream the things That my eyelids did hide. But I know, I know, I know X2 It's just my pride. I sometimes think I'm criminal, For thinking like this, But I don't want to be your friend, If your' lips I can't kiss. But I know, I know, I know X2 That something's amiss. If I admitted to loving you, I'd say it strong, I'd say it long, I'd say it right to you. But I know, I know, I know X2 That it's not true.

Methaphors 04:27
I was a stupid little leaf, I'd fallen too far from my tree, When your loving hands caught me. I was a city left in ruins, By the turbulance of war, And you were the concrete that made me stronger; You made me stronger. Like a bird without a home, I was searching for a nest, When your sweet voice gave me rest. And without you I'm a scortching Summer's day, That every little child hates, You are the cool creek that makes me worth loving; You make me worth loving. As if I were a tempest, Spun out far beyond myself, Your hands steadied me. And as David couldn't help, But long for Bathsheba, I am drawn to you so powerfully; So powerfully. I'd be anything for you, I'd be the sole in your shoes. I'd do anything for you, I'd cheer your face when you're blue. I'd sing anything to you, Just as long as you'd sing for me too. But everybody knows that I'm no good for you, And everybody knows that your heart wasn't true, And everybody knows what you did, Sad to say but you didn't get off the hook, kid. Well, I'd do anything for you, But everybody knows.

I had a plan to live out my life with a serious man, We wouldn't laugh, we wouldn't cry, We'd just sit there every night. We'd be sturdy, we'd be tall The haters could hate but we'd have it all. But life as it goes, life as it goes, Is is a series of highs and lows, Life as it goes, life as it goes, Is a series of "yes" and "nos"j Yes and Nos. It's so funny how sure you can be of someone so mean, And I wondered if I was wishing for things that never could be. I lost hope and finally resigned to be on my own. But life as it goes, life as it goes, Is a series of highs and lows, Life as it goes, life as it goes, Is a series of "yes" and "nos" Yes and Nos. Then entered you with a smile like wine and a face that I knew, You're so funny, you're so smart, You've got a way with your words and a way with your heart, And I never thought, but this unexpected journey is all that I've got. 'Cause life as it goes, life as it goes, Is a series of highs and lows, Life as it goes, life as it goes, Is a series of "yes" and "nos" Yes and Nos. I'll say yes, you'll say no, We'll have highs and we'll have lows. I'll say no and you'll say yes, And some days we might be a mess. But I think we should give this a go; Oh, my love, there is just one thing I know: I've never been happier to be wrong.

Seems to Me 03:41
Let's take a breath and think this over, Let's take a breath and think this over, You don't mean it, you don't mean it, Let's take a breath. And I'll take my time to tell you slowly, I'll take my time to tell you slowly, It was my fault, it was my fault, I'll take my time. I was confused by the voices, I was confused by the voices, That weren't my own, weren't my own, I was confused. And I thought it meant that we weren't happy, I thought it meant that you weren't happy, But we're still here, you're still here, And we're just fine. It seems to me, seems to me, That they were wrong X2 The clumsy lips of common men won't stand a chance; It doesn't matter what they think, Baby, let's just dance. We're gonna work every sunrise, we've got to work every sunrise, To build a home, build a home, build a home, We're gonna work. But I wouldn't ask for any other, I wouldn't ask for any other, To raise the beams, dream the dreams, Other than you. It seems to me, seems to me, That they were wrong X2 The clumsy lips of common men won't stand a chance; It doesn't matter what they think, Baby, let's just dance.

About a Girl 03:23
I grew up fast and lean and weak, Sorrow was my kin. The trophies I've collected Are the scars along my skin. But I wouldn't trade them for gold; Oh, the stories they've told. Florecent lights and clinic signs, Oh, childhood. A toy to my left, a needle at right, They'd done the best they could. I've grown up awful tough, Still, it wasn't enough. I'm a tragedy. X2 The pain burns like fire, No spark required, I'm alive but I'm not well. And the poison and knives, Have taken their time, As far as I can tell. I've battled on hands and knees; Still the cells do as they please. There isn't much mirth, But for what it's worth, I love the life I lead. After all, how can we heal, If we never bleed. I'm broken, but I feel fine; This body is sick, but it's mine.

MKE 04:27
I grew up in a town known for beer and ball, For summer concerts and the tempermental Falls. The winters are miserable and simply not that great, And to be clear the same goes for our crime rate. But if you take a look around, My city is much more profound. There's a place I spend my Tuesday nights in good company, Sitting there on Center street, the Jazz Gallery. And when I feel fancy I'll go to ballet, and our symphony orchestra is a triumph I must say. Our coffee, our coffee, our coffee, You'll love the taste. Colectivo is chill and bright and totally our pace. On Sundays you'll see kites along the shore, Take a walk with the soldiers of present and past at the War Memorial. Bradford Beach is the best spot to relieve your pain and ache, And did I mention you can't see the other side of the lake? We've got festivals for every street it's true, Rochambo is a coffee house, but they've got liqour too. We don't call it graffiti here, it's art. The Riverwest Coop. helps us do our part. The swings underneath the bridge on Water St. Heavens to Betsy, don't you think they're neat? I've got sailors for friends and musicians too, The Sail Loft is where we go to enjoy our favorite brew. If you want to stay at the Safe House, you've got to stay awake, And did I mention you can't see the other side of the lake? MKE, MKE, You're the only town for me. MKE, MKE, You will always be home to me. You're the best kept secret I've ever had the privilege to keep.
